1. Fuzzy Thinking and Forgetfulness
You may open the fridge and have difficulty remembering why you did it! But, no need to worry.
Slightly fuzzy and blurry memory, poor concentration, and some degree of forgetfulness are very common among pregnant women. It might be frustrating, but it disappears shortly after the baby has arrived.
2. Nasal Stuffiness
This is another weird pregnancy symptom. During early pregnancy, some women have their nose constantly stuffed up and they feel as if they have the flu! They have a slightly higher body temperature and they feel tired and wiped out all the time.
3. Your Skin Glows
By the 20th week of pregnancy, the amount of blood in your body will increase by as much as 50 percent! Isn’t this amazing?
During pregnancy, your oil glands are more active, and your skin appears shiner. The shine and glow combined with the extra blood in your cheeks is what makes your skin appear healthier, more beautiful and more glowing than ever! Nice, huh?
4. Spider and Varicose Veins
Spider and varicose veins are harmless and most of them will go away after giving birth. Those that remain can be easily treated.
5. Your Sense of Smell Increases
Pregnant women have a heightened sense of smell and taste. Sometimes they can even smell things that are several meters away!
Increased sense of smell might not be pleasant in early pregnancy when combined with nausea, but later on it can have some pleasant effects.
6. Changes in Skin Pigmentation
This is another weird thing that happens during pregnancy.
As pregnancy progresses, dark spots and patches may appear on your face, belly, and nipples. They are caused by the over-production of melanin in the body, and they will fade away a few weeks after delivery or after you stop breastfeeding.
Around the second trimester, you may also notice a dark vertical line, running from your belly button down the center of your tummy. It is called linea negra and it will also disappear a few months after giving birth.
7. Second Trimester Libido Boost
During the second trimester the pregnant women’s sex drive increases and this is the time when many women feel incredibly horny and experience a huge energy boost!
8. Your Feet Grow
Your feet will grow during pregnancy up to a whole shoe size! This is due to a hormone called relaxin, which relaxes ligaments and joints in your body, and allows pelvic muscles to stretch during delivery. Unfortunately, it stretches also your feet!
But, don’t worry! In most cases, the pregnant woman’s feet will go back to their normal size when the pregnancy ends. If not, you can always buy plenty of fabulous new shoes!
9. Tingling Hands
Numbness and tingling hands are another weird thing that can happen during pregnancy. The prickling and stinging sensation that can occur in your hands is due to the swelling of tissues during pregnancy. Unfortunately, it may sometimes cause even carpal tunnel syndrome. Just tolerate it, and it will disappear after giving birth.
10. Clumsiness
Slipping, dropping, tripping, and not feeling graceful at all, is another weird pregnancy symptom.
Increased clumsiness is a very normal side effect of pregnancy, and it is caused by your body’s unbalanced state. It is not easy to support a large belly! Just use more caution when doing things, avoid slippery rugs, wear good shoes, and be careful when walking and going up and down the stairs.
