Russian company wants YouTube blocked in country

By Elena Teslova

MOSCOW (AA) – A Russian company on Wednesday filed a lawsuit against US online video-sharing platform YouTube, accusing it of copyright violation.

Ontarget, which specializes in development of personnel assessment tests, filed the complaint in the Moscow City Court, and demanded that the website be blocked in the country.

A hearing is scheduled for June 5, according to a court statement.

The Russian company claimed that several YouTube channels offer applicants the tests that it developed for its staffers, pleading for protection of exclusive copyright.

This is Ontarget's second claim on YouTube. In 2018, the court accepted its plea, ordering the American company to remove copyrighted content from its platform.

YouTube is popular among netizens in Russia, particularly in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
