On April 15, 2013, Florida State Senator, Jack Latvala (R-FL), introduced Senate Bill 1878 that seeks to legislate the allegation of “Armenian genocide” in the Ottoman Empire without any court judgment. Influenced by an ethnic lobby and deploying a racist tone in its text, Florida S1878 is completely insensitive about the suffering of over half a million Turks and other Muslims at the hands of the Armenian nationalist groups during World War I.
