California Turkish American Chamber of Commerce organized a seminar titled “Financing Your Small Business in Hard Times” at Irvine Hilton, on October 2, 2010. As an outcome of the co-sponsorship agreement between CATA Chamber and U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Santa Ana District Office, the event provided the audience with broad information on numerous SBA services, and recent legislative updates related to small businesses.
After the networking session, Ms. Jill Andrews, who is the Lead Business Development Specialist, offered her presentation in a concise and well-organized manner. The topics discussed in seminar include, but are not limited to:
– free counseling, advice and information on starting a business,
– financial assistance for new or existing businesses through guaranteed loans,
– special loan programs are available for businesses involved in international trade – free consulting services through the network of Small Business Development Centers,
– training events throughout the district,
– available assistance to businesses owned and controlled by women, veterans, and minorities, – and advantages for small businesses in government contracts.
Attendees of the event received many documents on these events and programs, available for small businesses and various resources available online. Among participants were many small business owners and people seeking capital for their startups. “Without having had a network like this, it had taken significant time to gather all this information by myself, but today’s event has given essential information to access all these resources in an hour” a participant commented.
The event concluded with a question and answer session.
