Hollywood Meets The New Turkish Cinema
The first Los Angeles Turkish Film Festival ended with the awards ceremony after four days of film screenings. The jury led by Derviş Zaim awarded the Best Film award to Nadim Güç with his short film “Four Walls Sarajevo”.
While the Audience Award also went to Güç’s film, the two Special Jury Awards were given to Ayşegül Şahinbozkır’s“Milk” and Adem Demirci’s “Scarecrow”.
The ceremony took place at the Egyptian Theatre with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the hard work of the young Turkish students.
Many film lovers of Turkish and American descent attended the ceremony, along with well-known industry professionals such as Barbara Boyle, the producer of Hollywood’s Cinema Paradiso and My Left Foot.
The Festival has already begun work in preparation of a rich program for next year.
