Joint Statement By Turkish Americans Living in Southern California
Turkish flag is the symbol of the unity, sovereignty, independence and glorious history of Turkey.
In this regard, Turkish Americans, like all Turkish citizens, take pride in carrying their flag with honor and dignity in order to show their allegiance and respect to their home country.
In this respect, Turks would never allow anyone to take advantage of their flag for provocative acts.
It is with this understanding and guided by our utmost respect as well as responsibility to the Turkish flag that the Turkish American community has not been part of the deliberate provocation staged today in Los Angeles.
It is also important to stress that Turkish Americans in Southern California, as an integral part and proud members of this country, are strong and vocal advocates for diversity and peaceful coexistence.
