LATAA hosted their traditional Iftar dinner on Saturday evening, August 4th, 2012. The dinner was sponsored by Turkish Airlines and included entertainment by Vedat and special guests. The dinner menu included soup, hummus, cacık, chicken and beef döner, rice, and salad from DönerG. Freshly made baklava and şekerpare were donated by our president Ahmet Önerbay.
Among the LATAA Ramadan dinner attendees, we were privileged to host Consul Generals of TURKEY, AZERBAIJAN and PAKISTAN; Senior Advisors for Los Angeles Sheriff LEE BACA; Mayors of CARSON CITY and BEVERLY HILLS; Los Angeles Deputy Chief of Protocal, Commercial Attache of Turkey and Turkish Airlines West Coast Manager.

The cities of Beverly Hills and Carson provided LATAA with certificates of appreciation for all of LATAA’s efforts for improving the lives of Turkish Americans and bringing intercultural understanding between Turks and Americans. Click on the images to enlarge the certificates.
Carson Mayor Jim Dear received great applause from everybody in the room when he announced that he wanted to see a statue of Atatürk erected in the sculpture garden in Carson that will feature great leaders and heroes that symbolize freedom and liberty.
