On June 5, 2012, Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY) introduced House Resolution 676 that denies native Turkish Cypriots the right to explore resources of their own homeland. Influenced by the Greek-American ethnic lobby, H. Res. 676 bill also accuses Turkey of allegedly colonizing Cyprus and remains bitterly insensitive to the plight of native Turkish inhabitants of the island.
