United Airlines this weekend will introduce its first-ever service to Turkey with the launch of daily non-stop service from Newark to Istanbul.
Starting Sunday, Flight 904 will depart from Newark Liberty International Airport each day at 7:27 p.m. and arrive at Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport at 12:20 p.m. the next day.
The return flight, 905, is scheduled to depart Istanbul daily at 1:55 p.m. and arrive in Newark at 6:02 p.m. the same day. All times are local.
The eastbound flight takes nine hours, 53 minutes and the westbound 11 hours, seven minutes.
“Customers in the U.S. and Turkey will benefit from increased travel options with this new service,” said James Mueller, United’s vice president of Atlantic and Pacific Sales.
Initially, passengers will fly in the three-cabin Boeing 767-300 aircraft, with a total of 183 seats – six in United Global First and 26 in United BusinessFirst. There will be 151 seats in United Economy, including 67 Economy Plus seats that offer more legroom and more recline.
This summer, United will fly the route with its newly configured Boeing 767-300, which features 30 seats in United BusinessFirst, 49 in Economy Plus and 135 in Economy.
Customers traveling in BusinessFirst in the redesigned aircraft will get flatbed seats, a 15.4-inch touchscreen monitor delivering on-demand in-flight audio and video content, electrical and USB outlets, an iPod jack and a five-course meal with wine.
Each Economy Plus and Economy seat features a 9-inch touchscreen on-demand inflight entertainment system. All Economy rows have access to electrical outlets. (By Nancy Trejos, USA TODAY)
